Facts about Semen
Semen is the milky substance produced when a man ejaculates. Only 10% of this fluid comprise spermatozoa - and on average 200 - 500 million sperm per ejaculation.
The remaining 90% of the semen is referred to as seminal plasma and made up of about 30 different substances, including calcium, cholesterol, fructose and lactic acid.
What does Semen Taste like?
Semen has a faintly metallic taste as it contains zinc. What has been eaten in the previous few hours affects the chemical composition of the sperm and will have an effect on the taste too.
For example, asparagus, Brussels sprouts and coffee all make semen taste unpleasant, while fresh mint, mangoes, green tea and confectionary make for good-tasting semen. Pineapple juice is also known to improve the taste of semen.
Does sweet semen really exist? Well, yes. Diabetics tend to have sweet tasting sperm owing to the excess amount of sugar in their bodies.
