Online Relationships

Reader Post: 'Online relationships just seem to be a big waste of time to me. I've had an online relationship with a man for the past six months that is leading no-where. We're both frustrated because we live in different countries and even though we're both free to pursue the relationship, it sometimes just feels as if the universe conspires against us being together.

It's expensive to travel and expensive to talk on the phone. When we don't have that personal contact with each other, we start to feel disconnected from each other and then insecurities and jealousy creep in. He often confronts me about innocent comments I make to other guys on Facebook and I start monitoring his posts too.

In the beginning it was all very exciting and I couldn't believe my luck in finding such an attractive guy on the other side of the world who is interested in me. Lately, though, I've just felt sad and dejected all the time. I don't want to end it, but the joy has gone and it's too frustrating to continue.

I guess it would be a different story if one of us had the nerve to uproot and move but neither of us see a way to leave our jobs and friends and family to move halfway across the world for a relationship that we're not even sure would work out in real life. I regret getting so involved.'
