Love at First Sight

The ability to instantly assess a potential mate is an intuitive skill that served us very well in the caveman days as our forefathers struggled to quickly sort friends from enemies. And while today we may not need to protect ourselves with a strong, virile mate to ensure our survival, we habitually make up our minds about whether another person could be an appropriate match for us within the first few minutes of talking to them.

Just think about how long it takes for you to know whether you find someone attractive or not. It's intstant - you either do, or you don't. At first you focus on their physical appearance, then on their voice, then on the actual words they're using and whether you can relate to them. Body language plays an important role as well.

It's impossible to say that all love happens at first sight, of course... many people develop feelings for each other over time, but love at first sight as a phenomenon is alive and kicking, for sure!'
