1. Jen, congratulations on an inspiring website. Tell us how you became interested in essential oils.
Thank you Mia! It is a pleasure to share my passion about essential oils with you and your readers. I have always loved essential oils. As a teenager I collected many oils and used them in my oil burner or wore them as perfume. I would always be blending different oils to get a perfect scent that had the WOW factor. I was never attracted to commercial perfumes as they are mostly synthetic, so blending my own perfume from essential oils seemed a natural thing to do!
These days, I am much more aware of the therapeutic benefits of essential oils and use that to my advantage! I don’t use an oil burner anymore. I use an ultrasonic diffuser or nebuliser so the fragile essential oil chemical constituents are not altered in any way by heating.
Also, now when I make a blend I take into consideration the therapeutic qualities of the oil as well as its scent for perfume blending ability. I can make a perfume blend for easing cold and flu symptoms, a hormonal balancing blend for women right through to a simple and sexy aftershave for a man. I use most of my perfumes directly on my skin for the best therapeutic effect.
2. Is it true that aromatherapy scents can change your mood?
I believe it is true that essential oil scents can change your mood. Smell is the only sense where the receptor nerve endings are in direct contact with the outside world. Essential oil molecules are so small that they are able to bypass the blood-brain barrier and go directly to the brain via the sense of smell. Scientific research shows that essential oils are readily absorbed into the blood stream and that excellent absorption takes place through the nasal mucosa and lungs.
Therefore, when inhaled, essential oils may stimulate the areas of the brain associated with memory and learning, influence hormonal responses, and alter mood and feelings. What better way to inhale the therapeutic benefits than by wearing essential oil perfume. Who knows, it may also affect the people around you!
3. What are the other benefits of aromatherapy?
The benefits of essential oils are enormous. They have many therapeutic properties such as an anti-inflammatory effect, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal effect, pain-relieving effects, sedative effect (you would be amazed about the number of comments I have received from clients who “had the best night’s sleep” after a treatment!), stimulant effect (peppermint is excellent for that mid-afternoon fog!), and of course there are essential oils that have aphrodisiac effects.
4. Are there any oils that you specifically recommend for an erotic massage?
My favourite essential oil for erotic massage is sandalwood. It is the essential oil that most closely aligns with the smell of human sex hormones. It is a base note so it has a beautiful lingering scent which creates a sexy atmosphere for many hours.
My favourite blend for erotic massage is equal amounts of sandalwood, patchouli and ylang ylang in good quality carrier oil. All three oils have aphrodisiac qualities. It smells fantastic because the combination of woody/earthy base notes (sandalwood and patchouli) and a floral top note (ylang ylang) balances masculine and feminine traits perfectly

5. What are your ideas on how women can make the most of their sexuality?
Smelling beautiful is certainly a fantastic way that women can make the most of their sexuality. Essential oils can be part of a woman’s everyday routine for feeling good. Geranium is a floral and feminine oil which has hormone balancing properties. Rose opens the physical and emotional heart and rosewood is an acclaimed aphrodisiac which may be great for restoring libido.
Essential oils are great for anointing onto your own parts of the body. Women may want to make this a daily ritual, matching oils with the way they want to feel or enhance already positive feelings. This process can be very empowering for feeling comfortable about your own sexuality. Choosing the scent of the oils that most closely aligns with your mood can enhance the good feelings you already have or may change the way feel about yourself to a much more positive one.
6. Is there anything else you would like to share with the women of the world?
Essential oils are more than putting a few drops in an oil burner. You can use essential oils to be the woman that you want to be and feel better for it. Using and experimenting with essential oil perfumes is an individual process and I encourage you to use them everyday for your health and well being. Of course, only use the highest quality therapeutic grade essential oils which you know have no chemicals, pesticides or heavy metals. You deserve the best! Every woman can be a goddess with essential oils!
Thanks for inviting me to share essential oils with you and your readers. I hope that I have inspired women to explore the world of essential oil perfume and its benefits.
