Hearing you are loved may just be the best feeling in the world. Receiving flowers from your loved one is, at least in my book, a close second. If you want to keep marriage romance alive (or single romance for that matter!) - with the added benefit of better sex of course, try one of these creative tips:

One of the most well-known flowers of romance is, of course, the rose. When life gets a little thorny you can bring back the love with the flower that is synonymous with optimism. It's lush, full-bodied and smells delicious!

2. Arrange for a flower to be delivered to your lover, but make it an exotic one: an orchid, bird of paradise, or brilliant tiger lily. Include a supersexy note.

3. Flowers don’t always have to be expensive. Pick wildflowers from a field or the side of the road. Even a single daisy can eloquently express your feelings of love. Trim the daisy so there are an odd number of petals and add a note that says, ‘…loves me – loves me not…’

4. Buy flowers that begin with the first letter of your lover’s name, or flowers in their favourite colour, or that match their eyes.

5. Use a flower on the pillow as a private signal to your partner that you’re interested in making love that night. To take it one step further, make love on a bed of roses. Surprise your lover by spreading a bunch of rose petals across the bed for an ultraromantic scene.

Light a few candles, put champagne on ice, and scatter rose petals amidst the bed sheets. Invite your loved one with a discreet invitation to a night of romance. When they arrive, their breath will be stolen by the array of amore. Continue the evening with chocolate massage oil, a massager, then let love take it's course. Finish the evening off by sharing a rose scented bubble bath.

6. Don’t send passionate red roses too early in a relationship. Pink roses signify romantic friendship; yellow roses indicate friendship and respect; and white roses stand for purity and adoration.

7. Chocolate is a well-known aphrodisiac and contains chemicals that naturally produce the feel-good feelings of being in love. Be on the look-out for long-stem chocolate roses from your favourite chocolatier.

8. A marvellous gift idea is to get your partner a beautiful illustration of flowers that is personalized with your own message or a meaningful quote in calligraphy.

9. Place your lover’s favourite flower under the windshield wiper of their car.

10. Send your lover a posy of forget-me-nots when you’re apart from each other and attach a note that reads: ’Forget-me-not while we are away from each other. Please know you are always in my heart.’
