Chlamydia

The Silent STI
Raise your sexual intelligence by choosing to practise
safe sex.
Chlamydia is one of the most common
sexually transmitted infections
among young people. It’s sometimes referred to as the silent STI, as most people carrying it display no symptoms. You can therefore have it and be passing it on – without being aware of it.
Chlamydia can lead to long-term health issues like pelvic pain, problem periods and infertility. In fact, it’s estimated that it may be the leading cause of infertility in women. It usually affects the cervix, and can also spread to other parts of the reproductive system.
Like most other STI's, it can be treated quite easily. Complications are preventable if diagnosed and treated early, so don’t ignore it.
Get yourself tested and always use a condom. It's also important to have regular
Pap smears
to prevent cervical cancer.
